Local Authorities - Education Services

In line with changes in the sector, including Machinery of Government (MOG), RCU provides a range of services for the 14-19 phase - from support in developing the right structures and strategies to curriculum analysis and travel to learn arrangements. Previous projects conducted for 14-19 partners also include the identification of good practice, review of information and guidance arrangements and evaluating the impact of 14-19 arrangements, initiatives and programmes such as aimhigher.

The tools we use to support the sector include data analysis - including Market Share studies, surveys of Pupils and Parents and other stakeholders. RCU can support Local Authorities in planning and monitoring Local Area Agreement (LAA) objectives. We can help the work of PCDL providers in a number of ways including building PCDL Partnerships and identifying how current funding is targeted towards priority areas. We can benchmark provision in one area with the offer and uptake in a comparator area, identified using a combination of socio-demographic factors. The case-studies below are illustrations of the ways we may be able to help you.

We also work with sector organisations such as LSIS, QCA and LSC.

Arts Course research

This project was commissioned by a college to examine whether there was a market for part-time Arts courses; if so who was the market and how big was it; what did people want; where did they look for information and what did they expect to pay. The research included analysis of learner records, use of data from the Census and IMD and telephone surveys of former Arts learners and of the local population.
