Market Intelligence Data Exchange Service (MiDES)

RCU and the Association of Colleges (AoC) joined forces to develop the MiDES data analysis service which offers important market intelligence to colleges.

The MiDES service provides members with a regularly updated suite of reports on key topics for colleges and also offers the opportunity for colleges, individually or in consortia, to commission customised analysis.

The standard MiDES reports currently being produced include:

  • In-year retention;
  • Recruitment and curriculum profile;
  • Apprenticeship recruitment, completion and withdrawals;
  • Deprivation analysis (IMD) v population profile;
  • Current average fee income.

The value of being able to harness in-year data for decision-making within colleges is significant as is the potential for the MiDES reports to contribute to business and curriculum planning as well as to the Self Assessment Report process. MiDES has even been used to support Ofsted inspections.

"People really do appreciate the live element of the reports, the fact that they are in-year as it allows us to respond to any issues in a more timely fashion".
