What I Do

I’m responsible for coordinating and developing the strategic consultancy activities within RCU. As a Strategic Consultant, I have led major research and consultancy projects for the Learning and Skills Council, BIS (formerly DIUS), and Local Authorities. I have worked closely with a large number of providers including general further education colleges, sixth form colleges; work based learning providers and adult education providers.

My Background

I was Deputy Principal at a large further education college and have extensive experience at both operational and strategic level of the full range of further education activities. This included curriculum planning, quality assurance, budgeting, staffing, organisational restructuring, the 14-19 agenda, adult learning, workforce development, higher education and dealing with a diverse range of stakeholders, from funding bodies, to HE, employers, the voluntary sector and partner schools.

My industrial background is in electrical and electronic engineering and prior to my career in further education I was involved in developing electronic instrumentation and satellite control systems for Marconi Space and Defence Systems Ltd. and Schlumberger Ltd. I have also worked closely with BT labs on the use of new technology in education.
