Following the recent collection of the latest R14 ILR data RCU have updated and released the new MiDES GCSE English & Maths reports which are now available to all member colleges as part of the RCU and AoC MiDES service.
This benchmarked report on GCSE English, Maths and Functional Skills compares how the increase in volume of GCSE English and maths entries has impacted A*-C pass rates, functional skills and overall results at your college with the wider sector. Please note this is an update of the recently released report which used R13 ILR data and is now based on the later R14.
Already this report has received a great deal of interest and some headline findings were recently published by TES FE with calls for a change in policy as the research linked a lack of progress with social deprivation.

More about MiDES
Each year around 300 colleges upload their college ILR data to the MiDES server and as a result benefit from a free comprehensive suite of in-year benchmarked intelligence reports. These have proved to be extremely popular with AoC members and cover important issues such as the college’s recruitment and curriculum profile, in-year retention and apprenticeships. The service, designed for and continually driven by the sector, has grown from strength to strength over recent years. The new reports have been introduced in direct response to requests from colleges.
MiDES also provides the sector with its own unique in-year national dataset. The Association of Colleges at a national level uses this data, on your behalf, to promote the benefits of the sector and to evaluate the impact of Government policy.
