RCU has produced a new MiDES Value Added Report, using the latest DfE 16–18 progress measure data released in February 2026.
The report has been developed to give MiDES members a clear, college-focused view of value added performance, with straightforward benchmarking against the FE sector.
The national DfE data compares colleges with all 16–18 providers, including school sixth forms. The MiDES Value Added Report presents the data in a way that allows colleges to compare their performance more meaningfully against other colleges, helping to provide a clearer sector-specific context.
The report includes college-level results across the published value added measures, presented through clear rankings and visual summaries. This allows colleges to quickly identify areas of relative strength, as well as areas that may benefit from further review or internal discussion.
The report covers key routes, including:
-
-
- Academic
-
-
- Applied general
-
-
- Tech level
-
-
- Level 2 technical certificate
-
-
-
-
The inclusion of Level 2 technical certificate value added is new within the latest measures published, providing additional insight for colleges delivering this type of provision.
The MiDES report also includes the published DfE bandings, showing whether performance is classified as well above average, above average, average, below average or well below average. These bandings help support internal quality review and discussions around learner progress.
The new report is now available to MiDES members via the MiDES website and can be found in the Latest Downloadable Reports section.
